Delight at ‘excellent’ rating
Staff and pupils at a Kinrossshire school are celebrating a glowing report from inspectors.
Portmoak Primary has become one of just a handful in Scotland to achieve two “excellent” grades.
The school scored top marks for leadership, as well as health and wellbeing.
Education Scotland officers found the children were confident, articulate and took “great pride” in the school. They were enthusiastic, motivated learners, inspectors said. They also praised the “dynamic” leadership of headteacher Louise Gordon, as well as strong staff teamwork.
The school was also found to have strong partnerships with parents and other organisations.
The report goes on to recommend continued development in the area of skills for learning, life and work, including digital skills.
Perth and Kinross Council’s lifelong learning convener Caroline Shiers said: “My warmest congratulations go to the head teacher, her staff and pupils. This is a fantastic report that reflects the commitment to delivering a high quality education at all levels within the school.”
Mrs Gordon added: “We are absolutely delighted that Education Scotland found so much to praise in our school.
“It is a privilege to lead such a hard working team who are so committed giving our children and families a great experience.”
