Open day at depot to celebrate 100 years of Dunfermline hub
The garage doors are being thrown open to celebrate the centenary of a Dunfermline depot.
The Stagecoach bus depot on St Leonards Street marks 100 years of existence.
Originally a tram depot, then bus depot, the garage has been servicing Fife for a century.
To celebrate this milestone, Stagecoach is opening the garage doors for a running day, packed full of heritage fleet displays and family activities on Saturday May 19.
Visitors can visit inspect Stagecoach’s latest £2.7 million fleet investment with one of the company’s new coaches on display.
There will also be an engineering display, a chance to ride down memory lane with an array of depot photos, memorabilia and vintage vehicles and check out a variety of emergency services vehicles.
Running from 10am to 4pm, the open day is free and there will be regular vintage shuttle buses running from Dunfermline bus station and Halbeath park and ride to the depot all day.
Paul Thomas, managing director at Stagecoach East Scotland, said: “We’re delighted to be opening our doors at Dunfermline depot for a day.
“This will give our customers insight into how a depot is run day to day, learn more about their local buses past and present, with fun activities for the whole family to enjoy.”
The event will also be a fundraiser for Kingdom Kids with visitors urged to make a charity donation.
Further information about the event can be found on stagecoachbus.com or via the event page on the Stagecoach East Scotland Facebook account.
