Hereford society takes on breed secretary

The UK Hereford Cattle Society has appointed David Deakin as breed secretary.

The society’s chairman, Robin Irvine, said that since joining the society in 2005, Mr Deakin had been a major driver behind the breed’s growth in popularity.

“His work in promoting the breed and the Hereford beef brand through modern media and in building relationsh­ips along the supply chain have been key to this success.

“We are pleased that David has taken up the challenge of leading the breed in the coming years.”
