event. For the first time the parade will feature bands from China, Mexico and Oman. Internatio­nal steel bands and Samba band Beats of Brazil will help to bring a carnival feel to the parade. Closer to home Perthshire Brass, the Blackwatch ACF Band, Perth and District Pipe will all be parading. The Top Secret Drum Corps will also be performing in the arena. If you haven’t already seen them perform then you are in for a real treat. Around the parade arena there will be static displays of military vehicles, a replica spitfire and some tasty treats. Once the Salute has finished why not visit the award-winning shops and restaurant­s in Perth city centre.

l What better way to round off summer season than with some fabulous local food and drink? From September 14 to 16 the Taste of Perthshire Food Festival will take over Perth city centre in an event bursting with fantastic flavours, local and internatio­nal producers and demonstrat­ions from award-winning chefs, including Jean-Christophe Novelli, the festival has something for every palette.

Follow the food trail round the many fantastic and award-winning food businesses in Perth city centre and discover why Perth was voted Scotland’s Food Town 2018.

Sample dishes in local the restaurant­s, try a new tipple or stock up your larder with supplies from our fantastic bakers, butchers and delicatess­ens.

The weekend will be packed with activities and will feature a top class line up of chefs and demonstrat­ions. The food festival is part of The Great Perthshire Picnic which runs for the month of September, showcasing the fantastic food and drink on offer across Perthshire.
