Splashing idea: First-ever urban aqua park opens
Sunshine sees locals out on the water as Scottish first gets up and running
Scotland’s first urban aqua park opened in Dundee, attracting a flock of wetsuitclad thrillseekers.
The City Quay attraction features 18 floating obstacles ranging from freefalling waterslides to bridges and “ninja runs”.
It is the first in Scotland – and one of the first in the whole of the UK – to be based in an urban area and is suitable for children and adults alike.
With the good weather still going strong, its first customers jumped on from mid-morning on Saturday with spectators around Victoria Dock stopping to watch the action, similar to that seen on popular TV show Total Wipeout.
The park adds to Foxlake Adventures’ adjacent watersports facility, which features cable wakeboarding and paddleboarding.
Callum Mark, director of Foxlake Adventures, said the aqua park is an exciting addition to the company’s offering.
He said: “We only recently came up with the idea so to see it up and running already is great. It’s a tricky course but one that is pretty inclusive with different obstacles of varying difficulty.
“It’s fantastic to see so many people down for the opening. We believe in the vision for City Quay – we really think it’s becoming a great spot.”
The 100ft by 100ft course accomodates up to 24 people at any one time and is suitable for those aged seven or older.
