Wind to pick up after taste of higher level

TIPS: Johnston-trained youngster will have learned from stepping up

- THE FERRET

BLOWN BY WIND can get back to winning ways after two solid efforts in a higher grade when he runs in the British Stallion Studs EBF Spindrifter Conditions Stakes at Pontefract.

Successful in two of his first three careers starts in the spring, the Mark Johnston-trained youngster has contested the National Stakes at Sandown and the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The latter event is arguably the best two-year-old race of the year so far and Blown By Wind did not shirk the issue when the pace increased at the business end of the Group Two.

To finish seventh, beaten six and a half lengths by the impressive winner Calyx, was no disgrace.

That was his first try at six furlongs and the way he saw the race out suggests Pontefract should hold no fears. PENNY POT LANE can give trainer Richard Whitaker back-to-back victories in the ebfstallions.com Fillies’ Handicap.

Avon Breeze stuck for the West Yorkshire handler in 2017 and Penny Pot Lane already has a win to her credit over this course and distance.

She has yet to hit top form this term but she did run respectably behind Sandra’s Secret at Ripon in May and a return to the scene of her last success might bring about a revival.

FRENCH RESISTANCE enjoyed the stiff nine furlongs at Carlisle when getting off the mark at the eighth attempt and an extra three furlongs in the Wayne Conway Memorial Handicap could eke out more improvement.

Jedd O’Keeffe’s gelding was a wellbacked favourite last time and it looks like he has not finishing progressing.

Hamilton have a quick turnaround after their Saints and Sinners card on Thursday as their two-day meeting gets under way tonight. Ian Jardine has double hopes with I

BELIEVE IN YOU and JABBAAR. The former is a course and distance winner, justifying favouritism by seeing off Woodside Wonder by two and a quarter lengths just 12 days ago.

That victory followed near misses at Thirsk and Redcar.

Jabbaar was edged out by a neck when favourite at the course last time out but showed enough to deserve another chance. SELECTIONS HAMILTON: 6.15 Berlios, 6.45 I Believe In You, 7.15 Pavers Pride, 7.45 Jabbaar, 8.15 Corton Lad, 8.45 Paramount Love, 9.15 Natajack.

PONTEFRACT: 2.00 Highly Sprung, 2.30 BLOWN BY WIND (NAP), 3.00 Penny Pot Lane, 3.30 French Resistance, 4.00 Battle Commence, 4.30 Storm Ahead, 5.00 Mister Moosah.

DOUBLE: Blown By Wind and Penny Pot Lane
