Collaborative approach for art

-

Forgan Arts Centre kicks off a busy new season today.

It teams up with Youth 1st Fife’s Prevent project to deliver an anti-smoking message to youngsters.

Available to anyone aged between 14 and 24, tutors and the young people will work to create ceramic artwork together.

Gemma Craigie-Sharland from Youth 1st said: “We are so happy to be working in partnership with Fife Health and Social Care Partnership to provide opportunities for young people to promote the tobacco prevention message in their own unique and artistic way.

“We hope to focus on the positivity of not smoking, and welcome tongue in cheek humour and whacky ideas.”

The centre has also been working with Newport and Wormit in Bloom to commemorate the centenaries of the RAF and the end of the First World War.

Ceramic stars were made by pupils at Wormit and Newport Primary Schools to represent the 104 men from both villages who lost their lives during that war. The decorated boats, situated at the Tay road and rail bridges and Flass Road, will be decorated with red white and blue bunting made by 1st Wormit Guides.

Chairwoman Lynsey Smiles said: “We’ve got an exciting season planned, and we’re delighted to be working with two such brilliant projects this season.”
