The 36-year-old will be looking to continue a 14-match unbeaten streak at the All England Club after winning the title in 2015 and 2016, taking her tally overall to seven Wimbledon crowns.

Last year’s two beaten finalists feature on the Court Two schedule, with third seed Marin Cilic taking on Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka before Venus Williams plays Johanna Larsson.

There are three other British players in action, with Harriet Dart taking on sixth seed Karolina Pliskova, Katie Swan facing Irina-Camelia Begu and Cameron Norrie meeting former British No 2 Aljaz Bedene, now back representing his native Slovenia.
