Brechin boosted by capture of Dailly for trip to Forthbank

-

Brechin City have snapped up Harvey Dailly – son of former Scotland player Christian – and he is set to feature at Stirling tonight in the Betfred Cup.

The left-sided defender or midfielder impressed manager Darren Dods during pre-season and the Glebe Park boss was delighted to get the 19-year-old, who was with Dundee United last season, on board.

Dods said: “Harvey has plenty of good attributes including a whole lot of pace and he will do well here.

“He is steeped in football and determined to make his way in the game.

“He has worked hard during his time with us and he will be given a chance here.”

Brechin’s trip to Forthbank gives them the chance for revenge for a 2-0 defeat at the same venue last season with Dods saying: “They have done well in this competition for the past two seasons and will be looking to bounce back straight away so this will be another tough test.

“We played some good stuff against Peterhead in the first half on Saturday and created a couple of decent chances.

“They were also a handful however. The second half descended into a stalemate where you could not see a goal coming.

“We had the advantage in the shoot-out before losing and that was disappointing as the bonus point would have been nice.

“We were missing a bit of sharpness, particularly in the final third, but hopefully we will have it back for this game as it would be good to find the net early in the season.

“Stirling have dangerous players and will be disappointed at losing 4-0 to Dundee so we will have a game on our hands.”

Jordan Tapping joins Ryan McGeever and Andy Jackson on the sidelines after being injured against the Blue Toon.

Stirling boss Dave Mackay said: “For an hour against Dundee we played really well and the scoreline could have been level. We know that we need a 90-minute performance to get a win over Brechin.”
