Man fell down stairs during rant

-

A 51-year-old man fell down the stairs of his home as he ranted at a woman during a late night row.

Seamus Neesham told her she had ruined his life and began smashing up pictures on the wall of their home.

Neesham, now of Murray Park Place, Dalgety Bay, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on April 16 at his then home in Kingfisher Place, Dunfermline, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner towards the woman.

The charges stated that he uttered abusive remarks towards her and pulled household items from a wall, causing damage.

Depute fiscal Jade Doig told the court that the couple had been married for six years.

The offence occurred at around 2am after Neesham had been consuming alcohol.

Police had already been called to the property then left before another argument broke out.

“They were both at the top of the stairs at the time. He became increasingly angry and was shouting: ‘You’ve ruined my life’,” said the depute. “The accused then fell down the stairs due to his inebriation.”

Defence solicitor Barbara Collie said her client was a first offender, the incident was a “one-off” and the couple were no longer together.

Sheriff James MacDonald deferred sentence on Neesham until October 17 for him to be of good behaviour.
