Husband hat-trick in Kelty romp

A four-goal burst just after halftime saw Kelty Hearts romp past Whitehall Welfare 6-0 in the Ferranti Packaging Lowland League last night.

Hearts led 2-0 at the break through goals from Matthew Gay and Brian Ritchie but with 10 minutes gone in the second half, Stephen Husband took centre stage, scoring a hat-trick in five minutes. Stewart Cargill completed the rout on 64 minutes.

In the East of Scotland Qualifying League, Crossgates followed up their 0-0 Section C draw with Linlithgow with another point from a 1-1 draw at Penicuik.

The Fife side took an early lead through Barry Paterson but the home side equalised on the hour through Aaron Somerville.

Hill of Beath were missing several key players for the Section F visit of Bonnyrigg Rose and it got worse after just five minutes when Rory Harrower was shown a red card for a lastman offence.

Bonnyrigg took the lead on 39 minutes through Steven Thomson and Jonathan Brown headed in a second on 52 minutes

In Section G Dundonald Bluebell are already out of the competitio­n after a 4-1 defeat to Newtongran­ge Star at New Victoria Park. Results:
