Fife band hope to rock region’s music scene with sell-out gig
An up-and-coming Kirkcaldy band who recently supported ’90s Britpop band Cast at a gig in Leven are hoping to sell out another Fife venue.
The Shambolics have set themselves the target of filling the 700-capacity Lourenzos in Dunfermline on December 1.
As tickets went on sale on Friday, singer Darren Forbes said it will be a “massive statement” if they succeed.
Darren said: “This gig will be absolutely massive for us and for the Fife music scene in general.
“There’s not been a local unsigned band from Fife that has sold out a venue at that capacity in a long time so we will definitely be making a statement if it sells out.
“And I’m 100% confident it will.”
The Shambolics, comprising vocalists and guitarists Lewis McDonald and Darren Forbes, Jordan McHatton on bass and drummer Andrew Finlay, have had an incredible couple of years with a string of wellreceived singles and have played key festivals including Reading and Isle of Wight.
Last year The Shambolics, whose influences include The Beatles, The Stone Roses, Oasis, The Smiths and The La’s, also won the best rock and alternative gong at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards.
With sell-out gigs in Hamburg and Glasgow’s legendary King Tut’s under their belts, they met one of their Liverpudlian heroes John Power in May when they energetically supported Cast at Truth nightclub in Leven.
The Shambolics only got together in late 2015 after several jams at Eggman Studios in Dunfermline, run by Darren.
Tickets for the Lourenzos gig are available at Ticketmaster.
