Levein happy after Jambos come from behind to win

HAMILTON 1 HEARTS 4

Hearts manager Craig Levein refused to get carried away after his side took their goal tally to 14 in three matches.

Levein’s side followed up 5-0 Betfred Cup wins over Cowdenbeath and Inverness with a 4-1 victory at Hamilton in their Ladbrokes Premiership opener.

Hearts were dominant in the second half and scored three goals in 13 minutes to kill the game off before the 62nd minute.

But Hamilton had started the brighter team and took the lead through Mickel Miller in the 17th minute.

Peter Haring headed a leveller three minutes later but Hearts only took control after the break, when a penalty from Steven Naismith was followed by further strikes from Haring and Steven MacLean.

And Levein is well aware they will need to improve with Celtic visiting Tynecastle next Saturday.

“After 10-15 minutes I wasn’t feeling quite as relaxed as I am now,” he said.

“It’s not the way I would have liked the game to have gone but in hindsight maybe it’s not a bad thing we had to dig in and turn the scoreline around. It makes us feel quite good about doing that.”

Hamilton boss Martin Canning believes Hearts’ experience told.

He said: “For me their experience and nous won them the game and got them on top of us.”
