Campbell hopes Glens can return to winning ways

Co-manager ready for ‘massive’ game

- By Mark Johnson

Glenrothes are in line for a “tough” clash when they face Fauldhouse at home.

Co-manager Willie Campbell said: “It’s a massive game for us after a confidence sapping start to the season and against one of the few teams to beat us home and away last season, so it will be tough.”

Glens have a few injury doubts with Campbell himself and Scott Napier, Gavin Moffat and Callum Kinnes all doubtful. Goalkeeper Jack Small is still out long- term and Dion Gear is on holiday but Campbell and co-manager Stevie Kay still have a decent-sized squad.

Lochee United are another of the clubs with a 100% record and they welcome a Kennoway Star Hearts side that lost its opening game.

United should have beaten Thornton Hibs by more than the 1-0 scoreline and manager George Shields will want his side to be more clinical in front of goal.

Shields is still without long-term casualties Kevin Buchan and Alan Tulleth, who are joined by Scott Webster, but otherwise has a full squad available.

Kennoway manager Craig Johnstone is without the suspended Jason Watson but should have the same squad that faced Carnoustie last weekend.

Tayport and Downfield have both won one and lost one so far and they meet at the Canniepairt. Tayport manager Charlie King will want more from his side after last week’s disappointing defeat to Kirriemuir Thistle.

King continues to be without Ryan Suttie who completes his ban from last season, while he has injury doubts over Dayle Robertson and Kieran Conway.

Thornton Hibs boss Craig Gilbert hopes his side can take heart and build on last weekend’s better performance against Lochee United despite defeat.

This weekend Hibs welcome Whitburn to Memorial Park. The visitors drew 3-3 with Fauldhouse in a West Lothian Derby last time out but were soundly beaten 6-1 by Lochee on opening day.

In the Premier League Brechin Vics took a well deserved point from last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Luncarty but once again Phil McGuire’s squad is hit by injuries and he will leave it late to select his line-up.

It’s fair to say Kinnoull have had a tough start to the season with Luncarty away and then Blairgowrie at home but Alan Cameron’s side just get on with it and Cameron will have a squad of 17, similar to last week, for Victoria Park.

The top two in the Premier League North meet at North End Park as leaders North End welcome Blairgowrie.

North End thrashed Coupar Angus 13-1 last weekend but expect a tougher time against Mark Brash’s Blair side.

Brash is without Gordon Pirrie who is working while Greg McDonald and Corey Gray are both injured, but he welcomes back Darren Neave.

It has been a disappointing start to the campaign for Arbroath Vics and it doesn’t get any easier with a trip to Luncarty to look forward to.

Paul Tosh expects to have a squad of 16 but is without Ryan Robb who is at a wedding and Paul Taylor who is at work.

Luncarty will be without assistant manager Richie Montgomery, who fractured his wrist in the draw at Brechin Vics, and he joins Daniel Walker and Robbie Millar on the sidelines. Manager Jonny Kelly expects to have 16 available.

Scone Thistle manager Derek Lawson is missing a number of bodies ahead of his side’s trip to face Coupar Angus at Foxhall Park, the game being switched from Farquharson Park due to renovations on the pavilion. Arnie McKay, Martin Strachan and Max Ovolio are injured, while Willie Laing, Steven Moon and Craig Mitchell are on holiday so youth players from the clubs U19s will be given their chance to shine.

Coupar Angus will leave it late to name their squad but will be without Jake Tulloch with a groin strain and Josh Allardyce who is working.
