Deadline looming for Oxford opportunity

-

The deadline for NFU Scotland members to win an all-expenses paid trip to next year’s Oxford Farming Conference is just two weeks away.

The conference takes place at Oxford University on January 3-4 and two winners will have their travel, accommodation and scholar conference ticket paid for by the union.

In return, they will be required to write a short piece for the NFUS membership magazine.

To enter, members can write a letter of up to 300 words, or create a one-minute video outlining how they farm, or would like to farm, and what going to the conference would mean for them.

The entry deadline is August 31 and the winner will be notified in October.

Jen Craig, one of last year’s winners, said: “I would advise anyone to apply to go to the Oxford Farming Conference for so many reasons.

“The people that you meet and the speakers are incredible. You will leave with ideas flying around in your head, your opinions will be challenged, but most of all you will gain a whole new enthusiasm for the future of your own business and our industry as a whole and what kind of role you want to play in that.”

NFUS vice-president Gary Mitchell said the conference has some of the most innovative and inspiring speakers in agriculture and the competition is an opportunity for any member who is keen to learn more about the industry.”
