Falconer to perform at Sleep in the Park

-

Dundee singer-songwriter Kyle Falconer will perform at the city’s first ever Sleep in the Park event in December.

The View frontman, who has just released his debut solo album No Thank You, will perform at the event alongside Edinburgh’s Withered Hand.

Amy McDonald and KT Tunstall will also be visiting Dundee as part of their tour of all four Sleep in the Park events taking place in Scotland that night.

Organisers Social Bite and Unique Events hope to see 12,000 sleeping out on December 8.

They hope to raise £6 million from the event.

This will be used to continue Social Bite’s fight to eradicate poverty.

The Dundee event will be hosted by comedian and broadcaster Ewen Cameron.

Lulu will headline the event in Edinburgh’s Princes Street Gardens, while Frightened Rabbit will curate Glasgow’s Sleep in the Park at Kelvingrove Park.

The band will be joined by a number of guest vocalists who perform in tribute to founding member Scott Hutchinson, who died in May.

Eddi Reader will headline Aberdeen’s event.

Last year saw 8,000 people come together in Edinburgh’s city centre on the coldest night of the year, with some of Scotland’s most respected sports people, religious leaders and political figures all enduring the freezing temperatures to raise a total of £4 million for the cause.

Members of the public can join Sleep in the Park 2018 by committing to raise £100.

Businesses can sponsor the event by signing up a team of five with a minimum fundraising commitment of £3,000.
