Couple’s incredible act of compassion
The death of a child must herald almost unimaginable grief. Tragically, Charley Lowrie was just 20 when she passed away after battling an extremely rare illness.
In fact, Charley had already defied predictions by living beyond her teenage years having been diagnosed with Edwards’ Syndrome.
Many people afflicted by the awful condition die in infancy, leaving mum Jacqui and dad John to describe their beloved daughter as “a miracle”.
Charley may have passed, but that has not stopped the doting parents from determining to do all in their power to help others in the same difficult situation.
To that end, the Fife couple have now established a new venture, “Trusted Breaks”.
Designed to support other people who have to contend with disabilities or complex needs, it will offer respite care overseen by a team of dedicated professionals.
Remarkably, Jacqui and John have developed the lifeline centre within their own home.
It is a truly astonishing act of kindness and compassion which will surely be appreciated by countless families in the months and years to come.
Few people can truly understand what those affected by such rare illnesses go through, leaving the Lowries in a unique position to help.
Their selfless actions are an example to us all.
