Pars boss Johnston has his sights set on two more new faces

-

Dunfermline manager Allan Johnston is targeting at least two new signings before tonight’s transfer deadline.

The Pars have already snapped up 10 fresh faces this summer after he decided to overhaul his squad following last season’s promotion play-off failure.

And, after last weekend’s shock 4-1 loss to newly-promoted Ayr United, the gaffer is keen to beef up his options even further before the transfer window closes.

He said: “We are, fingers crossed, hopefully going to bring in a couple of players, anyway.

“That should hopefully happen on Friday.

“It will be a frantic transfer deadline day as usual. That’s if things go according to plan, but that doesn’t always happen.

“We’re trying to get it done and hopefully we can get it over the line.”

One of those signing will not be trialist striker Hakeem

Araba.

The former Peterborough United marksman was given a week to try to earn a deal at East End Park but has already left the club emptyhanded.

Johnston added: “He was in and we were having a look but we never went any further with that.”

Meanwhile, Dunfermline have been dealt an injury setback after defender Lewis Martin was sent for a groin operation yesterday.

The 22-year-old has not played for the Pars this season because of injury and will now require a further six weeks on the sidelines recovering from surgery.

Johnston said: “He’s probably going to be out for roughly six weeks, but that’s why you’ve got a squad.”
