Fife TSB employees’ £1,000 fraud scheme exposed
Three Fife bank employees have admitted claiming their cards were lost and money was stolen from their accounts as part of a scam.
The women, who worked at the Lloyds Bank of Scotland card centre in Dunfermline, made the false claims in order to each receive £1,000 compensation.
Karla Ewing, 30, of Harrier Court, Dunfermline, Kate Milne, 21, of Hudson Road, Rosyth and Laura Kevan, 22, of Grampian Place, Rosyth, appeared together in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for sentencing yesterday.
They admitted that at Lloyds Banking Group, Pitreavie Business Park, Dunfermline, while acting together, they formed the fraudulent scheme.
Ewing committed her offence between May 19-21 last year. The other two admitted committing their offences between April 20-21 last year.
The court heard that Ewing had previously worked in the fraud department and passed on information to the other two about how to carry out the scam.
However, an investigator was appointed to look into the matter when suspicions were first raised about Ewing and she revealed that the other two were also involved.
Sheriff Charles MacNair imposed community payback orders with varying amount of unpaid work. Ewing was given 190 hours, Milne 150 hours and Kevan 135 hours.
