Funding gets wheels in motion to improve Middleden bike trails

Bike trails at Kirkcaldy’s Middleden are to be extended in an effort to attract new riders.

Fife Council and Fife Environment Trust are providing a total of £35,000 to enhance the woodland trails and bring them up to a higher standard.

An expert trail designer will be brought in to ensure all health and safety requirements are met, although some of the work will be carried out by members of the Middleden Mountain Bike Club and community volunteers.

The club works with Gallatown Bike Hub, Kirkcaldy High School and youth groups to ensure the trails are used and looked after.

They are also used by many others who walk and cycle there.
