Muirhead faces wait

Perthshire curler Glen Muirhead and his team must wait to see if they have qualified for the quarter-finals after losing their last Pool A match at the Tour Challenge Grand Slam event in Thunder Bay, Ontario, yesterday.

Muirhead, his brother Thomas and siblings Kyle and Cammy Smith won two of their first three games and knew that another victory over Sudbury’s Tanner Horgan would clinch their last eight spot.

The Scots led 3-1 at halfway then conceded five stones in the next two ends. Muirhead and company closed the gap to 6-5 but their place in the knockout stages now depends on results elsewhere.
