LOCAL REMEMBRANCE EVENTS
Stagecoach East Scotland is supporting Remembrance Sunday by offering free travel throughout the day to armed forces personnel.
The bus company will let armed forces personnel on for nothing if they are carrying a military ID card. They have extended the offer to veterans wearing the veteran’s badge.
Stagecoach East Scotland also recently launched a specially branded Poppy bus, in support of the Poppyscotland 2018 appeal. It is now operating on routes around Fife and will remain in service for the next year.
Lathallan School in Angus has marked the 100th anniversary of the First World War by creating a poppy garden at Brotherton Castle.
Staff and pupils from the school have planted around 300 individually-crafted, upscaled poppies in the school grounds to pay their own emotional Remembrance Day tribute.
The pupils will conduct a silent walk through the grounds of the school today, before S5 pupil Lydia Broadley turns solo piper to mark the start of a special service.
Lathallan’s Pipe Band will also lead the Montrose Remembrance Day parade tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the boys in the additional supports needs base Red Room at Langlands Primary School in Forfar helped create a beautiful display of poppies from painted bottle bases at the front of the school.
