Residents’ views sought on how to improve Riverside Park

-

People in Glenrothes are being urged to share their ideas and views on how Riverside Park could be improved in the future.

The town centre attraction is owned and managed by Fife Council and bosses believe it has the potential to attract new visitors.

An action planning event has been organised at the CISWO in Glenrothes on December 6.

SNP councillor Fiona Grant, chairwoman of the Glenrothes area committee, said: “We know from people living in Glenrothes that the many vibrant green spaces throughout the town are very important to its identity and one of its most distinguishing features.

“Amongst these, Riverside Park is located in the centre of the town and stretches out towards Leslie following the river Leven.

“It is well used and has some very attractive features but has the potential to be an even greater amenity for everyone to enjoy now and in the future.”

The event on December 6 will begin with a walk around the park to familiarise people with its geography and some of the issues it faces between 9.30 and 11.30am.

It will be followed by a talk about the features and qualities of a good park, before issues and potential solutions are discussed and an action plan developed.

The creation of the action plan will inform the way the council manages improvements to the park and the co-ordination of the various groups involved in the work.

Money for a feasibility study on the potential for a new cafe in the park has been agreed by the Glenrothes area committee.
