Pupils tackle on­line hate speech

Three In­verkei­thing High School pupils have taken part in an in­ter­na­tional hackathon in Ber­lin.

The pupils, who are study­ing a foun­da­tion ap­pren­tice­ship in soft­ware de­vel­op­ment with Fife Col­lege, were in the Ger­man cap­i­tal to take part in the Selma Hack­ing Hate event at the Face­book Dig­i­tal Learn­ing Cen­tre.

Ryan Ar­row­smith, 16, and Aaron Walker and Lewis McLaren, both 15, made up one of only six teams cho­sen to at­tend the event af­ter Selma Hack­ing Hate in­vited young peo­ple from across Europe for ideas to stop or make amends for on­line hate speech.
