Wanderers and Grove get ready to go head-to-head

-

MJV Wanderers and Grove Menzieshill meet head-on at Bells Sports Centre in Perth tomorrow afternoon as the national indoor league begins to shape up.

Wanderers head the table on seven points from three outings after Hillhead sprung a surprise draw on the former champions. However, their Dundee neighbours posted two wins from two to sit just one point adrift.

Both are expected to add a further win apiece in the morning session when they line up against respective capital contestants Watsonians and CALA.

Title holders Clydesdale Western have ground to make up after an up-anddown set of results last week left them stuck on the four-point mark alongside Edinburgh University.

Clydesdale’s opening encounter against Grange should bolster confidence and goal tally before a potentially defining clash with the students, who could possibly have their work cut out to see off a resurgent Hillhead outfit.

The latter may only have garnered two points but last week’s share of the spoils against the current and immediate past champions is indicative of a vast improvement on last season.

Wildcats, Inverleith and Clydesdale II all hit the front with full points from their first forays in Division 2.

Reserve strings from Wanderers and Grove will pin their hopes on taking something from match-ups against Kelburne and Granite City Wanderers rather than any of the title-chasing teams.

Similarly, Perthshire’s sights will be set on Watsonians II and Stirling Wanderers rather than their opening encounter with Division 3 leaders Inverleith II.
