Two sales at 20,000gns top Texel Select Seven

7,000gns paid for gimmer from the Allanfauld flock of Archie and John MacGregor

The Texel Select Seven event at Lanark was topped by two sales at 20,000gns, while the breed’s inaugural Lanark Crackers sale was headed at 7,000gns.

The two five-figure deals featured in-lamb gimmers from the Auldhouseb­urn flock of Alan and Hugh Blackwood. First was a Clinterty Yuga Khan daughter out of a Cowal dam by Kelso Pavarotti, going back to Muiresk Northern Dancer and in-lamb to the 135,000gns Sportsmans A Star. Buyer was Robert Bennett for Plasucha flock.

Also at 20,000gns was a grand-daughter of the same Cowal dam and in-lamb to 125,000gns Best of the Best. Buyer was Bruce Renwick, Castlecair­n.

Select Seven also produced a sale at 17,000gns, paid was the first entry from the Clark family, Helen and sons, Alan, Andrew and David. Their Knock Yardsman daughter out of a dam by Teiglum Windfall, going back to Springwell Ulsterboy, sold to the Blackwood family.

Next, selling at 12,000gns was one from the Procters flock. A Teiglum Younggun daughter out of a dam by Scrogtonhe­ad U Stoater, she was bought by Messrs Boden and Davies, for the Sportsmans flock.

Leading the Lanark Crackers prices at 7,000gns was a gimmer from the Allanfauld flock of Archie and John MacGregor, Kilsyth. This was an ET-bred daughter of Garngour Yeltson out of a dam by Tullylagan Tonka and going back Strathbogi­e Stifler. Sold with an index of 371, she was offered in lamb to Hilltop Brigadier and was bought by Alan and Hugh Blackwood, for the Auldhouseb­urn flock.

At 4,400gns was a ewe lamb from Myfyr Evans Rhaeadr flock. By Rhaeadr Ace and out of a ewe by Glenside Whiz Kid, she was bought by David McKerrow and family for the Nochnary flock.

Two went at 4,000gns. The first, from Allan Campbell’s Strawfrank flock, was one by Ballynahon­e Yorkie and out of a Strathbogi­e Usher daughter, sold to Jamie Gibson, for the Heather Park flock, Forth.

The second, from Allanfauld, was an ET-bred daughter of Knap You’re The Man, sold to Messrs Bradley-Farmer, Dumfries.
