Joy of six for team behind Lutteringt­on Butterfly

Animals and their owners head to Grampian Foal Show

Grampian Foal Show saw Clydesdale filly foal, Lutteringt­on Butterfly make it six championsh­ips on the trot for owner Harry Emerson of West Auckland and producers, Ronnie and Pete Black of Collessie, Cupar.

Sired by Collessie New Approach, out of Coachmills Lady Helen, she has taken championsh­ips at Lanark, Lothian, Fife and Forfar foal shows as well as taking the supreme championsh­ip at the Winter Fair.

The reserve Clydesdale honours went to Ian and George Young of Wellheads, Clochan, with their yearling filly, Arradoul Capella. She is a daughter of Arradoul Balvenie, out of Arradoul Symphony.

The Highland Pony section saw a victory for Margaret Macdonald of Forfar with Zamora of Whitefield.

This yearling filly was bred by the Baird family and is by Whitefield Prince Platinum, out of Moyra of Whitefield.

Reserve Highland was Lynne Macdonald’s Islay Malt of Coynach from Mains of Coynach, Tarland. This homebred yearling colt is by Prince Platinum, out of Pavola of Whitefield.

The Shetland pony championsh­ip went to Lisa Wilson’s Myreton Glory from Muckhart, Dollar. This two-year- old colt, which had earlier taken the coloured championsh­ip, is by Claylands Prince of Foxt, who has a gold award in the Shetland scheme, and out of Warracksto­n Guylian.

Taking the reserve supreme was the miniature champion, Breckenlea Gambler, from Colin Matthew and Lynne Jack. This yearling colt was bought as a Christmas present to Colin as a foal and is by Kerswell Starbuck, out of Breckenlea Galena. It had stood junior champion at Keith in the summer.

Bjorn Larsen from Shetland enjoyed a great trip across the water, winning both the standard Shetland champion and reserve awards, as well as the reserve miniature championsh­ip.

His standard champion was Bergli Visette, a home-bred filly foal by Stow Viscount and out of Sirette of Berry.

She won the Foal of the Year award in Shetland this year.

Reserve standard was Bjorn’s Bergli Gloria, a two-year-old filly by Wulfert VD Groote Woerd. Gloria had been overall champion here two years ago. Bergli Bruce took the miniature reserve championsh­ip. This colt foal is by Tor of Berry, out of Hermits Lancelot. Reserve coloured was Christine Forbes’ Lynemore Laird, a colt foal by Lynemore Illusion, out of Merkisayre Dally. There were only four forward in the Mountain and Moorland classes.

The championsh­ip went to Frank and Morven Lawson’s Waverhead Fantasy, a two-year-old Fell filly by Lownthwait­e Gary, while the reserve award went to Mark and Helen Snowden’s Dales yearling filly, Essiecroft Mary Rose, by Westwick William.
