Two iconic “timelords” will unite to raise funds for Rachel House hospice in Kinross.

Former Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi has announced he will be making a special appearance at Edinburgh’s Capital Sci-Fi Con next month.

And the fifth Doctor, Peter Davison, has confirmed he will be at the same event.

The show, which takes place on Saturday, February 16, is expected to make tens of thousands of pounds for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS), which runs Rachel House. Last year, the event made £74,000 for the charity. Capaldi, also known for his role as Malcolm Tucker in political comedy The Thick Of It, said he hopes to help smash that target by donating all proceeds of autographs sales.

He said: “CHAS is an incredible charity and I’m proud they have invited me to my first ever Scottish fan event.”

Laura Campbell, senior fundraiser at CHAS, said: “We’re so excited that Peter will be attending Capital Sci-Fi Con 2019.

“He’s a huge star and it’s fantastic he has chosen to support CHAS and help us with our mission of reaching every family across Scotland who is facing the unimaginable, that their child is going to die.

“Peter’s incredible generosity of donating his whole autograph fee will mean we will be closer to reaching our target of smashing last year’s £74,000 total.”

Edinburgh’s only not-for-profit sci-fi and pop culture convention is now in its fourth year and is organised entirely by volunteers.

Taking place on February 15, 16 and 17 at the city’s Corn Exchange, the event donates all profits to CHAS, which cares for children with life-shortening conditions and their families across the whole of Scotland.

Star Wars, Harry Potter and Willow star Warwick Davis will also attend – making this the biggest and most starstudded Capital Sci-Fi Con ever.

CHAS cares for families via its two hospices, Rachel House and Robin House in Balloch, and via its CHAS at Home service, which reaches families living across the whole of Scotland to deliver palliative and respite care in homes and hospitals.

Tickets are available to buy now via https://www.capitalscificon.co.uk/ tickets.html. Autographs from Peter will have a suggested donation of £30 for adults and £10 for children. All of the autograph fees raised by Peter’s appearance will be donated to CHAS.
