Polish star forward brings wealth of experience to Dundee Stars
The Kitmart Dundee Stars have announced the signing of Oliver Paczkowski.
The 24-year old forward has a wealth of experience in his native Poland, icing on 82 occasions in domestic action and six times in the CHL for Krakow.
Born in Montreal, the centreman has won two Polish league titles. Paczkowski was part of the Cracovia Krakow side that won back-to-back league titles in 2015-16 and 2016-17.
Stars general manager and head coach Omar Pacha said: “Oliver is a determined young man who will be a welcome addition here in Dundee.
“We have taken a few injuries up front of late and Oliver will provide vital cover at a pivotal time in the season”.
Subject to international clearance, he is expected to make his debut in tomorrow’s home game against Manchester Storm (face off 7pm).
Meanwhile Jeff Hutchins last night stressed the importance of limiting mistakes.
The former Great Britain international emphasised that aspect ahead of Fife Flyers’ double-header in Belfast tonight and tomorrow.
Hutchins, Fife’s assistant coach, has a full squad to pick from and is fully aware that Giants come into the game following back-to-back defeats against Cardiff, 4-2 and 5-2, both in Wales.
However, he said: “They (Giants) had a different team in the Challenge Cup and we were playing a lot better.
“They’ve brought in some guys to make them stronger and we have to be prepared to battle.
“Our focus is to secure a play-off place and to do that we have to convert our chances.
“We also have to be better at driving to the net and do a better job of putting the puck in the back of the net.”
Fife’s defence, he said, must function well and Flyers must keep Giants out of their defensive zone as much as possible.
He added: “We are in a game of mistakes and it is the team which limits the mistakes which generally comes out on top.”
