Robert on the run

“Andrew Farmer of Norwich and Robert Mullen of Rochdale are both friends of mine,” writes Thomas Michie of Kinglassie. “We were brought up together in Kinglassie.

“In our young days, we were members of the 1st Kinglassie Boys’ Brigade Company. The picture below shows a page from The People’s Journal from Saturday, May 19 1956.

“The boys had taken part in the Fife division sports day at Beveridge Park, Kirkcaldy. In the picture, Robert is being presented with the sports trophy. When they came home, the team paraded it round the village.

“Both Andrew and Robert keep in touch with me to get hear what is going on in Kinglassie these days. Robert, who was a good runner, has kept a copy of the cutting for all these years.”
