Cineworld saved by Avengers

-

Cinema chain Cineworld said the latest Avengers film had delivered record breaking revenues in a trading update yesterday.

Box office business was down 13% in the period from January 1 to May 12 compared to last year.

The company said this was due to the timing of major releases.

Among the biggest hits this year have been Captain Marvel, pictured, and Avenger: Endgame.

Chief executive officer Mooky Greidinger said: “The record-breaking results of this latest Avengers movie prove the undisputed power of the theatrical business and its popularity around the globe.”
