Duty to state Derby case
Appleby’s Galileo colt tipped to spoil the party
LINE OF DUTY can shake up the Derby picture with victory in the Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Dante Stakes at York.
A stellar field has been assembled for the Knavesmire showpiece – and, quite rightly, much attention will surround the reappearance of last season’s champion juvenile Too Darn Hot.
Throw in Japan, who is seeking to further bolster Aidan O’Brien’s spectacular hand for Epsom, and it really is a race not to be missed. But it is Charlie Appleby’s Galileo colt who can spoil the party.
LAH TI DAR represents the Too Darn Hot team in the race before the Dante, the Middleton Stakes, and should justify cramped odds.
She did not do too much wrong last term, impressing in an unbeaten run before going for the St Leger, where she lost very little in defeat behind Kew Gardens.
Her final outing was a shade disappointing, as she could only finish third at Ascot on Champions Day, but it is fair to say Doncaster probably took more out of her than had been thought.
