Moorhouse says Fyvie is great friend of players

-

Cove Rangers chairman Keith Moorhouse said he would love to see former Aberdeen and Dundee United midfielder Fraser Fyvie playing at Balmoral Stadium next season.

The Highland League champions have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old, who is a free agent after being released by the Tangerines.

Cove are 90 minutes away from becoming the first Highland League side to win promotion to the SPFL next season after winning Saturday’s first leg against Berwick Rangers 4-0.

Moorhouse said: “Obviously we would love to be able to attract players of Fraser Fyvie’s quality to Cove.

“But at the moment we are still a Highland League club and he is a full-time footballer who has just managed to gain his release from a Championship club who potentially could be playing Premiership football next season.

“I’m sure there will be a lot of clubs lined up wanting to sign Fraser Fyvie and many of those clubs will be full-time.

“If Fraser decided that he wanted to make a new career in part-time football then clearly we would make an attempt to get him, but there are lots of clubs who would love to sign a player of his quality.

“The reason Fraser Fyvie has so regularly been linked with ourselves is as he is great friend of our players. He grew up with them at Aberdeen’s academy and he’s been to about eight of our games this season as he wants to support his mates and cheer them on.

“But right now isn’t the time to be talking about matters like that.”
