“My sister Rosemary Clitheroe in Edinburgh takes The Courier sometimes,” writes John Brydone of Pitlochry, “and was glad she did so on May 7. She found the story about the 50th anniversary of the Garry Bridge.

“Her late husband, Jim Clitheroe, a civil engineer with the contractors A.M. Carmichael at the time, was involved in the project. It was through their employment with A.M. Carmichael that the couple first met in 1951.

“Rosemary was already a shorthand typist on the Errochty Hydro Electric contractor and the site agent A.P Reid introduced her to Jim the day he arrived to join the firm.

“The couple married in Pitlochry in 1955.
