Cycle path tribute to triumphant Lichties as fans paint town red

-

A cycle route in Arbroath has been decorated in honour of the promotion of the town’s football club.

Fans painted the town red when the Lichties won League One earlier this year and now the UK’s top bike path, which runs through Arbroath, has been painted maroon.

Volunteers worked with active travel charity Sustrans to paint two milestones on National Cycle Network Route 1 in the Arbroath FC colours.

And the fans brought the championship trophy with them as they worked to brighten up the previously blank waymarkers.

Ralph Coutts of Angus Clean Environments, said: “There was really only one colour that the mileposts could be painted.”
