Wilma Brown introduced art teacher Pat Duncan, from Braco, and she gave details of the Africa Mercy hospital ship which delivers vital healthcare to West Africa. Competitio­ns: Mrs Gawzial Cup, flower of the month, single stem – Anne Hubbard; Points Trophy – Anne Hubbard; Elizabeth Donaldson Quaich – Heather Walker. At the AGM Wilma thanked everyone for their help, in particular secretary Margaret Douglas and treasurer Elsa Knox, and their husbands Bill and Ian. The meeting agreed that the committee for 2018-19 would continue in their roles. KINLOCH. Members enjoyed high tea at the Royal Hotel, Blairgowri­e. The winner of the Marjorie Webster Trophy, provided by her daughter Lorna Mair, was Elspeth Campbell, with Ella Neill the runner-up.

MURTHLY. President Gaye Sissons opened the AGM. The Points Trophy was won equally by Gaye Sissons and Muriel Graham. The Mary Baxter Memorial Trophy for flower of the month was won by Chris Lord. Competitio­n: cushion any craft – 1 equal Margaret Robertson and Gaye Sissons, who will share the Hamish Wilkes Trophy. BUTTERSTON­E. The new committee is: president, Fiona Bruges; vice-president and treasurer, Sheila Bruges; secretary, Marilyn Hale. Competitio­n results for the year – 1 Fiona Bruges, 2 Marilyn Hale, 3 Sheila Bruges. COALTOWN OF BALGONIE. Catherine Craig showed how to do book folding. Barbara Patrick showed Somerset folding and Mary Poxon demonstrat­ed fold flat box card making that fits into an envelope. Coaltown of Balgonie won the inter institute table competitio­n for the Playfair Salver at the Federation Show, which was held at Fife Show. AIRLIE. Prizewinne­rs for 2018-19: Housewives, Airlie Cup – 1 Karen Boath, 2 Judith McVicar; Handcrafts, Helen Mackie Cup – 1 Karen Boath, 2 Fiona Dick; flower of the month, Jean Rattray Rose Bowl – 1 Karen Boath, 2 Sheila Bruce; most points overall, President’s Cup – Karen Boath; Best Trier Salver – Laura Carnegie. AUCHTERHOU­SE. Five new committee members were voted on at the AGM. Trophy winners: Babington Cup, overall crafts and cookery – Margrett Steel; Cameron Cup, craft – Fiona Husband; Robertson Cup, runner-up craft – Paula White; Rosebowl, cookery – Margrett Steel; Jenny Christie Memorial Cup, runner-up cookery – Elizabeth Denyer; Flower of the Month Vase – Margrett Steel. Members then enjoyed Irish bingo and a carousel event looking at what they enjoyed about the Rural. NORTHMUIR. President Elma Dickens welcomed everyone to the business meeting. Trophy winners: Jubilee Trophy (most points in monthly competitio­ns – June Scrymgeour; Elizabeth R Mitchell Trophy (second in monthly competitio­ns) – Mary Steele; third in monthly competitio­ns – Irene Mackie; McLaren Millennium Salver (most points in Federation Show) – Mary Steele; Elma Dickens Flower of the Month Trophy – Irene Mackie. Maureen Crosbie of Gallus Glass gave a talk and showed examples of her stained glass. Ann Findlay proposed thanks. President Ingrid Alison welcomed members to the games night. The competitio­n points cup was won by Morag Ramsay, with Sarah Ramsay the runner-up. The Mary Gray Rosebowl for most points in flower of the month went to Joyce Ellis.
