The two reservoirs at MONIKIE have been providing visiting anglers and members alike with some excellent dry fly sport.

The surface was like a “bubbling pot”, commented one of the regulars.

This week the Island Pond saw during the day 13 boats and 20 rods keeping 47 fish for 94lbs 10ozs and returning 33 and in the evening 12 boats and 18 rods keeping 53 for 110lbs 14ozs and returning 81.

The North Pond saw only one day boat keeping five for 9lbs 10ozs and returning six.

The Perth Anglers with three boats (six rods) ventured out in a blustery evening on Wednesday and did really well, keeping 18 for 37lbs 12 ozs and returning 12.

RESCOBIE LOCH, along with other waters, suffered from the awful weather this week with no boat fishing for a couple of days.

Hopefully all the rain will eventually filter down to the loch to raise the water level. Out before the gales were Dundee Inter AC with 12 rods.

They returned 24 fish for 64lb 12oz. The heaviest rainbow of 4lb was brought in by Roddy McKay

The lady, junior and gentlemen of Priory AC, Glasgow arrived on Saturday and had a great time.

The 12 rods returned 29 for 74lb and returned four. In the complete bag were four Blues. Davie Greirson had the heaviest fish of the day with a rainbow of 4lb.

There will be a stocking this week from Welham Park, Yorkshire of approximately 1,000 rainbows weighing around 2lb.

They will be distributed throughout all areas of the loch.

The weed is starting to become a problem in some areas but the club are implementing, a plan to maintain clear access out to the loch from the boathouse.

Most areas of the loch are completely clear and able to be fished. All the bank fishing areas are clear and giving good returns.

The semi-finals of the National Championship got under way this week at LINTRATHEN LOCH.

Thirty-three competitors took part and the top 13 go through to the final.

Top rod with six for 9lbs 11.6ozs was Douglas Beckett of Aberdour AA. Douglas will receive a Ridgeline Ballistic Hoodie courtesy of sponsors Ridgeline UK.

Wullie Simpson of Rothes Oak was second with six for 9lbs 10.3ozs and David Mateer of SPRA FFFS North with six for 8lbs 15.7ozs. Thirteen rods qualified with the cut off weight 5lb 4.7ozs.

At LOCH LEVEN conditions were mixed for the second of the semi-finals which was held at Loch Leven recently.

Top rod on the day was Ewan Clark of Strathtyrum AC, who had four trout for 7lbs 10.5ozs. Ewan took his fish in the north area where he was using buzzers.

In second place with three trout for 3lbs 3ozs was Ally Middlemass of Blairadam AC. Ally took his fish on a dunkeld fished on a di7 at the point of St Serfs and the mid buoy. Ewan and Ally go through to the final

LAKE OF MENTEITH hosted Heat 7 of the Scottish Club Championship and was won by the Lintrathen FF “B” team of Tyler Hay (11), Alan Ramshaw (9) and Barry Robertson (5) with a total of 25 fish.

The water at ORCHILL TROUT FISHERY has been fishing well on the top or just under the surface with mainly small flies. On Saturday the Falcon Club had 39 fish for 115lbs 12oz with Ian Sloan winning with four fish for 10lbs 8oz.
