There’s plenty of fun for all the family in Angus this summer, with everything from train rides to treasure hunts with your pets. Zippos Circus comes to Arbroath’s Inchcape Park from July 1 to 3 with its nationwide Big Top Tour: The Magnificent Top Hat. The show offers a spectacle like no other as acrobats and aerialists, contortionists, comics and daredevil motorcyclists come together for the production. The thrilling Brazilian Lucius Team of five motorcyclists in the famous Globe of Death will take centre stage, plus acrobat and martial artist Paulo Dos Santos. They will be joined by a colourful troupe of artists from all around the world including foot jugglers, Kenyan tumblers, Cuban springboard acrobats, knife throwers, contortionists and dancers.
Like motorbikes? Then you’ll love Brechin’s Harley-Davidson in the City festival, on July 6 and 7.
For those into their music, the Kaiser Chiefs, best known for hits Ruby and I Predict a Riot, are heading to Montrose Links on August 16. Meanwhile, Jess Glynne is at the
same venue on August 23 and ska legends Madness will play there on August 24.
If you’ve got a dog, then check out the doggie-teering opportunity at Crombie Park from July 1 to 31, between 10am and 4pm. Basically, you pick up a sheet of doggieteering instructions from the car park attendant and at each hidden location you will find a small doggy treat. For more information, contact 01241 860360.
Railway enthusiasts and lovers of Thomas the Tank Engine will be in their element if they head to the Caledonian Railway in Brechin on July 13 and 14. Here, you’ll get to meet Thomas and friends, experience a train journey behind a real steam engine, and meet the Fat Controller. All activities and rides are included in your ticket price.
There will also be an array of attractions to enjoy, from fairground rides, classic bus rides and bouncy castles to face painting and storytelling and more.

Keen on musicals? Then head to Arbroath’s Webster Memorial Theatre on August 12 for Milkshake Live: Milkshake Monkey’s Musical. It’s a family show with plenty of laughter, audience interaction and great fun. It stars Milkshake Monkey and friends including Fireman Sam, Noddy, Shimmer & Shine, Digby Drag-on, Wissper, Nella the Princess Knight and Floogals. For tickets, see angusalive.scot

Another fab open-air performance by Heartbreak Productions will be Romeo and Juliet at Barry Mill on July 13. The tragic tale of Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers is

Meanwhile, head to Glamis Castle on the weekend of August 2, 3 and 4 for the Glamis Country Fair and Horse Trials.

Another fab event at Glamis Castle is the Dogs’ Weekend on August 10 and 11. It’s guaranteed to be a lot of fun for all canine lovers with local traders selling food and products for both dogs and owners.
Foraging fans will also have a good time at Glamis on August 10 and 11 with summer foraging courses.
The courses are basically simple foraging walks to identify a selection of edible plants and flowers, plus some edible summer mushrooms. Walkers then enjoy a wild food lunch based on what they find. Visit wildfooduk.com
Any golf fans in the family? Get ready to tee off at the Carnoustie Gala Putting Competition on July 4.

Want to get muddy? Then get your wellies on (and old clothes you don’t mind getting messy) for the Journey to the Centre of the Mud on July 19 at Montrose Basin, when you’ll see the town from a different perspective on a guided walk across the mud. Like getting wet? Then you’ll love the Watersports Bonanza Days at Monikie Country Park on June 30 and August 3. Try windsurfing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking or paddleboards.
