CARNBO: President Angela Browning welcomed everyone to the last meeting of the session. Jay Hutchison demonstrated needle-felting and members were invited to craft ladybirds for a gift tag.
Competitions: Flower of the month – 1 Jessie Stirling, 2 Betty Stirling; article in handmade felt – 1 Helen Payne. Next meeting is Monday September 16. AUCHTERMUCHTY: President Janette McCaffery introduced Joyce MacRae, from Fife Federation, who gave a talk on the rural.
The raffle was drawn and vice-president Ann Macleod proposed thanks.
Competitions: Flower of the month – 1 Shirley Chowdrey, 2 Janette Syme; cheese scones – 1 Faye Orr, 2 Anne Macleod. CRAIGROTHIE: President Joyce MacRae opened the meeting with a brief recap of the results of the Federation Show.
Craigrothie member Moira Hall won the rose bowl for the best floral arrangement. Most points in the children 8+ category was won by Catherine, granddaughter of Craigrothie member Alison Forrett. Most points in the children under 7 category was shared by Hannah, daughter of Craigrothie member Laura Palmer. Joyce then introduced Nicki Bradwell, founder of Nicki Bradwell Designs, who demonstrated lino printing.
Competitions: Flower of the month – 1 Catherine Williamson, 2 Alison Forrett, 3 Meg Sloan. KILRENNY: Jenny Watson presided with Sandra Paton standing in as secretary. A tribute was given to former president Mary Meldrum who died recently. Morag and George Findlay gave readings in Scots language.
There was a bird wordsearch and a quiz.
Competitions: Garden photograph – 1 Mary Hutchison, 2 Mary Thomson; flower of the month – 1 Daisy Muir, 2 Jean Squizzin, 3 Mary Hutchison, 4 Jenny Watson. Jenny proposed thanks.
STAR: Beryl Birrel presided. June and Jill from Therapy Dogs gave a talk on their work. Competitions: Rock buns – 1 J Booth, 2 C Wilson; photo of a dog – 1 C Wilson, 2 J Cook. Cathy Calley proposed thanks. She also presented Beryl with a card and flowers for her birthday. DUNDUFF and DISTRICT: Members held a fish supper night in the Baldridgeburn Community Centre.
President Anne Marshall thanked members who entered the SWRI West Fife Show.
Dunduff won the Countess of Elgin cup for most points in the show. Member with most points in the show, Gordon Quaich – Anne Marshall, runner -up Christine Fox Trophy – June Patterson.
Christine Dick, Anne Marshall and Kate Adamson entertained with a rendition of The Three Brides. Members also guessed the baby photographs brought in by members.
Competitions: Embroidered card – 1 Elizabeth Marshall, 2 Margaret Brown; mocktail – 1 Mhairi Gillespie, 2 Christine Dick; flower of the month – Barbara Tosh. BALMERINO: Members visited the Wemyss School of Needlework, followed by afternoon tea at the Blacketyside Farm shop. KIRKFORTHAR FEUS: H Baisley welcomed Margaret Burke, a puppy walker from Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Margaret was accompanied by her husband David and puppy Ariel.
