Aviva’s long history in Perth stretches back to 1885 when General Accident was formed, a brand that remains successful today as Aviva’s online-only car insurance.

Perth is one of the company’s core UK locations, with around 1,000 employees currently based in its Pitheavlis building.

The office is home to Aviva’s property claims centre of excellence, with expert teams managing claims for both personal home insurance customers as well as commercial property customers.

As well as serving Aviva home customers, the teams also manage claims for customers with home insurance through a number of high-street partners, such as HSBC and First Direct.

Last year the employees in Perth handled around 115,000 home insurance customer claims alone and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Perth is also home to Aviva’s SME trading team plus the company’s sales and service teams for its general insurance customers.

Aviva says it actively supports the development of future financial services talent in the region through its involvement in local schools in Perth, as well as through long-standing relationships with a range of organisations.

These include Strathclyde University, Heriot-Watt University, the Financial Services Advisory Board, Scottish Financial Enterprise and Financial Services Skills Investment Plan Refresh.

Aviva distribution director David Skinn said: “Aviva has a long heritage in Perth and we are proud of what we do for our customers in their times of need through our property claims centre of excellence, where our people have also expanded their skills and capabilities to include commercial property claims.”
