Comrie looking forward to making an impact at Pars

-

Aaron Comrie is hoping he can kickstart his career with Dunfermline as he prepares to complete ‘the set’ of SPFL divisions.

The 22-year-old joined the Pars on an initial 12-month deal earlier this summer after spending the last four years with St Johnstone.

The full-back made 16 appearances for the Saints and 15 in the Premiership, the last of which came in April’s 2-0 win over Dundee.

But the former Celtic youth also played on loan at Montrose in League Two and Peterhead in League One, so is now eager to make his mark on the Championship this coming season.

He said: “I bring energy, as well as defending. I like to get forward as much as possible and I like a battle as well; you get that a lot in this league.

“It is the one league that I have not played in. I know that it is going to be tough, there are certainly no easy games, and I know at times we are going to have to roll our sleeves up and dig in.

“I think I can do both sides. I defend, first and foremost, but I will try to get up the pitch and try to contribute as well.”

Comrie is one of 10 new signings made by Dunfermline boss Stevie Crawford so far this summer.

With fellow defenders Tom Lang, Euan Murray and Matty Bowman, midfielders Ryan Dow, Kyle Turner, Paul Paton and Josh Coley, and strikers Gabby McGill and Kevin Nisbet all arriving at East End Park, it is a fresh start for the Fifers.

Comrie added: “I know Joe Thomson, we went to school together, and I played with Kevin Nisbet years ago, but all the boys have been really welcoming and I feel settled already.

“I couldn’t ask for a better welcome. There are a lot of new faces, so that makes it easier.

“It is exciting to see the other boys coming in. They are a good group, there is a lot of quality in the squad.

“It is nice to see how everyone plays, to get used to it and create partnerships all around the pitch. I think that is important as well.”
