STRATHMART­INE.

Mrs Kennedy welcomed guests from Drumgeith and Tealing. Mrs Paterson cut the cake. Mrs Kennedy did a “this is your life” on times gone by. Mrs Smith gave views on the rural days out and holiday to Norway.

KILMANY. President Sheila Simmers welcomed members to the outing at the Heritage Centre in Cupar. The next meeting is 7.15pm on September 9 in Rathillet Hall, new members are welcome.

NEW GILSTON AND WOODSIDE.

Jean Carr, president, welcomed Ian Cunningham and his wife Jan to the meeting where they gave a demonstrat­ion on cooking salmon and mussels. Competitio­ns: individual dessert – 1 Valerie Anderson, 2 Margaret Webster, 3 Pip Coutts-Wood; flower of the month – Inga Barnes.

NORTHMUIR.

Members visited Kirktown Garden Centre, Stonehaven, for their summer outing.

ST VIGEANS.

Members and guests visited the Falkirk Wheel and the nearby Kelpies followed by a meal at Glencarse Hotel. The meetings resume in September.

ARBIRLOT AND CARMYLLIE.

President Edith Douglas welcomed members to the Cliffburn Hotel for the summer tea party. Entertainm­ent was provided by Helen Addison, Shona Kemp and Jill Kerr. Nita Smith presented vouchers to Nan Reid and Margaret Clark. Margaret received the voucher for most points in the craft competitio­ns, while Nan received the vouchers for most points in the baking and flower of the month competitio­ns. She also received the cup as overall winner. Sandra Evans proposed thanks.

INVERKEILO­R.

Members visited the Signal Tower Museum in Arbroath for their summer outing before taking lunch at Kescoweth House.

LOWER LARGO.

The meeting was opened by president Mary Beattie. Visitors from Kennoway were welcomed for an interinsti­tute meeting and provided an evening of entertainm­ent. Competitio­ns: fruit loaf – 1 Pat Scanlin, 2 Jill Tiley, 3 Nan Carstairs; pre-war photo – 1 Pat Scanlin, 2 Jill Tiley,

3 Ella O’Keefe; flower of the month – 1 Pat Scanlin, 2 Jill Tiley, 3 Mary Beattie. The next meeting is on September 10 at 2pm in Montrave Hall.

EARLSFERRY AND

ELIE. The outing was a visit to the Bowbridge Alpaca Farm outside Largoward. Honor Woodcock won the prize for making the best toy alpaca. President Margaret Lambie proposed thanks.

She also reminded members about the stall at Elie Fayre Day on July 13 and hoped they would provide support. In the Fife SWI bowling competitio­n at Auchtermuc­hty the team of Ann Johnson, Irene Murray and Pat Rowan reached the final play-off before losing to the team from Dairsie.

STRACATHRO.

Members and friends enjoyed a day out to Pitlochry and the Festival Theatre to see Summer Holiday which was followed by a meal at the Red House Hotel, Coupar Angus.

FARNELL. Members enjoyed a summer outing to Castleton Farm Shop before travelling to Peterhead Prison Museum. High tea was enjoyed at Buchan Hotel in Ellon on the way home.

KIRRIEMUIR.

Members visited the Tayside Police Museum then went to the Gateway to the Glens Museum to see the exhibition there commemorat­ing 100 years of the Rural in Kirriemuir. The afternoon ended with afternoon tea at the Thrums Hotel. The next meeting will be on September 18 in the small hall of the Glens and Kirriemuir United Church. Mary Gifford will speak about the History of Kinnordy House and the competitio­n is an interestin­g kitchen article.
