Rovers feel the Blues after Stranraer flurry

McGlynn says side deserved more from trip to Stair Park after they concede late double

-

Raith Rovers boss John McGlynn felt his side did not get what they deserved after Stranraer’s late double gave them victory.

The Kirkcaldy side were 2-1 up with seven minutes to go but conceded twice in quick succession to leave Stair Park with nothing.

The manager said: “The game swings in a couple of minutes and it puts you through the wringer at times.

“There was not a great deal in the game obviously, Stranraer have cashed in with the two goals.

“Again, it was a long-range shot that we don’t deal with and then the third goal is a bit messy.

“The ball is in the box breaking about, our reactions could have been better to that but there was not much in the game at all. I don’t think we deserved to lose the game.

“We’ve got three points, then we have got a point. I think we should be going back up the road with something but from our point of view we are disappointed that we are not.”

It was the hosts who opened the scoring when Connor McManus found the net from 20 yards.

Raith levelled three minutes after the restart when Michael Miller nipped in at the near post to head home Regan Hendry’s corner.

The game burst into life with 20 minutes left when Brad Spencer fired across Dale Burgess to put Raith in front.

However Stranraer would fight back and ultimately take all three points.

David McGurn pulled off a stunning save to deny David Dangana from six yards but the ball fell back to the striker, who tucked home the rebound.

Then, McGurn could only push Ian Smith’s long range effort up in the air.

The ball landed on the grounded goalkeeper and Cameron Elliott thumped home the loose ball for the win.
