Carnoustie Panmure lost their unbeaten record in East Super League North in an entertaining game at Laing Park as they lost 4-2 to Lochee United.

The visitors took the lead on the half-hour through a brilliant free-kick by Danny Cavanagh and he added a second goal five minutes after the break. Gordon Macdonald pulled a goal back on 73 minutes but three minutes later Scott McComiskie restored the two-goal cushion at 3-1.

Bruce Hearn pulled a second goal back with five minutes to go but poor defending led to McComiskie making it 4-2.

Broughty Athletic look to be back to last season’s form as they climbed to second place, behind Carnoustie on goal difference, following a 3-0 win over Tayport.

Marc Scott scored for Jamie McCunnie’s men and Bryan Duell made sure with a great free-kick with five minutes left.

Five minutes into the second half Jamie Montgomery equalised but that was as good as it got as Fraser Mills, Calum Kirkcaldy and Kieran Donald all scored to give the visitors a comfortable win.

Downfield had the game won at half-time against Kirriemuir Thistle at Westview Park.

Kerr Hay scored a hattrick alongside goals from Lee Cameron and a trialist as the Spiders led 5-1 at halftime with Dale Reid scoring for Thistle.

Reid completed his hat-trick after the break in a much-improved performance but the damage was already done.

Paul Ferrier and Liam Craig were the Hearts scorers.

Lochore Welfare continue the search for their first point following a 2-0 defeat at home to leaders Fauldhouse United, Declan Brady and David O’Donnell getting the goals.

Thornton and Pumpherston shared 10 goals at Recreation Park with the former edging the game 6-4. Ben Anthony scored a hat-trick for Hibs with Garry Thomson scoring twice alongside a Scott Orrock goal, while Zander Murray scored a hat-trick for Pumpherston with Nyang netting the other goal.

In the North Region Super League, Montrose Roselea had to settle for a point from their clash with Banchory St Ternan at Broomfield Park.

Both sides had chances to win the game but couldn’t find the back of the net and the draw gives Roselea their first point of the season.
