Stovin returns as Pacha’s men seek confidence-boosting win

-

Brett Stovin missed four weeks of the season after suffering a lower body injury during Dundee Stars’ last visit to Belfast.

The former University of Manitoba captain was gutted after working hard during the summer to hit the ground running in his first season with Omar Pacha’s side.

Now the versatile Canadian centre or right-wing returns to Northern Ireland tonight (7pm) hoping to continue his comeback, stay injury-free and help Stars register a confidenceboosting win.

It’s five league games since Stars celebrated winning two points.

Stovin admitted his frustration at the early-season injury but said: “The first few games back were difficult.

“After a month out and not doing any cardio because it was a lower body injury, you come back and you are pretty gassed.”

Since making his comeback, Stovin has netted two goals and the 24-year-old is working hard to put the injury behind him, stay focused and add to his goal tally.

Having the Canadian back is a big plus for Pacha’s side, who anchor the Elite League with five points from 10 games.

Belfast have also struggled recently and are sixth with eight points from six starts, but came from behind to win 3-1 against Manchester Storm on Sunday.

Pacha will rely on players like leading points gatherer Justin Maylan, who has three goals and seven assists, to fire them to a welcome win.

Kevin Dufour, who has five goals and four assists, is also key along with Elgin Pearce and Anthony Beauregard, who also have nine points.
