Calendar raises £500 for Andy’s Man Club to go towards heating

-

Sales of a charity calendar have raised £500 for Andy’s Man Club.

The calendar, produced by Dunfermline estate agent Remax, features photographs of Scottish landscapes and landmarks taken by in-house photographer Aaron Simpson.

Andy’s Man Club, which is staffed entirely by unpaid volunteers, was set up in 2016 by Luke Ambler after his brother-in-law Andy took his own life. It provides a safe place for men to get together and talk about any issues or problems they are facing.

The Dunfermline branch was set up in May last year and has since seen 1,435 men walk through its doors.

The £500 raised will help provide central heating in the club’s meeting room in the Erskine Building, which is provided free of charge by Yes-U-Are, a charity partnership set up by local people.

Ryan McKillop from Andy’s Man Club said: “We currently use portable heaters to warm up the meeting room, which is obviously not ideal and is expensive to run during these hard winter months.

“This funding will go to the Yes-U-Are partnership, who run the building and offer us the space for free, to help with heating installation.”

Adrian King from Remax said: “The work that Andy’s Man Club, Dunfermline, is doing to raise awareness of mental health and tell men it’s OK to talk is vital.

“The response to the calendar has been fantastic and it’s great to know we are directly helping the local club.”

The Dunfermline branch meets every Monday at 7pm.
