The historic relic, the sole Jacobite flag saved from Culloden, is to be housed in Dundee. The flag has been presented to the city by a prominent citizen, Mr J. Henderson Stewart of Fingask Castle, and will be placed among the other historic flags in the Albert Hall of the Albert Institute. It is interesting to recall that the flag was the only one of the Jacobite colours preserved from destruction at Culloden. The colours carried by Sir James Kinloch’s battalion, the second of Lord Ogilvy’s Forfarshire Regiment, escaped burning.

Veteran striker Kenny Miller has been installed as the bookies’ favourite to replace Jim McIntyre as manager of Dundee FC. The Dark Blues announced yesterday McIntyre and assistant Jimmy Boyle had been sacked. It came a week after the team’s relegation from the Ladbrokes Premiership was confirmed with a home defeat to Hamilton Accies. McIntyre, who was appointed in October, won only four matches during his time in charge of the club, including Saturday’s 1-0 victory away to Livingston. Fans backed the decision.
