Blue Brazil manager left pondering new contract
Cowdenbeath manager Gary Bollan knows how players across Scotland are feeling as the expiry of their contracts looms ever closer – as he is in the exact same position.
Bollan, who has turned the Blue Brazil around since joining them in 2017, said: “My contract ends in early June and since I was placed on furlough a few weeks ago no discussions have taking place.
“That is not a criticism of the club as there is just so much uncertainty around.
“My players and lots of players across the country are in the same position so I can empathise with them when they say the uncertainty over what happens next is difficult to handle.
“I speak to our captain Craig Barr quite often to check that everyone is OK.
“I would like to give him information to share with the players but there is no information to share as nothing is coming out from the centre of the game.”
Bollan is hoping that a deal with the Fifers can be agreed when football comes out of lockdown, as he explained: “I am happy at the club and they have been happy with me and how things have turned around in the last couple of years.
“We were having a good campaign, the best the club has had in six years and it was disappointing that the chance to go for promotion was taken away from us.
“A new contract was mentioned briefly by the chairman a few weeks ago but obviously the world has changed since then.
“We have had conversations about issues for next season since then so hopefully a new contract will probably be back on the agenda once things settle down.
“As soon as I know what is happening with me and with football in general, I will be out to end the uncertainty for the players.”
