Budget’s main points
● A council tax freeze in Dundee.
● Increased budget of £170.4 million for the children and families service – 45% of the council’s total budget of £372.8 million.
● Increased budget of £82.6m from DCC to the Dundee Health and Social Care Partnership.
● Improved support for care-experienced young people and families with children with disabilities.
● A freeze of all burial charges.
● Increased funding for mental health, tackling drugs and tackling poverty – an extra £1m spent in these areas. This in addition to existing budgets and those announced by the Scottish Government.
● Accelerate the city’s work to tackle climate change, including £6.5m for a sustainability and low carbon project.
● An additional £3m of capital funding on sustainable transport to implement further measures to improve air pollution levels in the city caused by transportation.
● New Mill o’ Mains Community Facility and the £60m Craigie/ Braeview secondary school.
● Free music tuition across the city and the delivery of the ASPIRE programme, offering pupils an opportunity to take part in a bespoke programme of art, music or drama.
● A 3% wage increase for the lowest paid employees.
● Continued investment in maintaining parks and open space to the tune of £7.8m.
● Support £2m capital investment in play equipment and playgrounds.
● Spend more than £12m on delivering the full rollout of 1,140 hours of nursery provision across new and refurbished nurseries.
● Assist with the delivery of the £700m Tay Cities Deal programme.
