Hughes still believing in County after fightback

-

Ross County manager John Hughes believes there is everything to play for in the Premiership relegation battle after his side came from behind twice to force a 2-2 draw at Kilmarnock.

Goals from Michael Gardyne and defender Alex Iacovitti cancelled out Chris Burke and Mitch Pinnock strikes to give the Dingwall team a share of the points which keeps them a point above Saturday’s opponents in the relegation play-off spot with four games to play.

Hughes said: “I said to them at half-time, let’s keep a clean sheet in the secondhalf and you’ll go and win the game.

“I was confident that we could win the game, I knew we would create chances and I think we did enough in the second-half to do that.”

● Motherwell manager Graham Alexander admits he would like to recruit goalkeeper Liam Kelly on a permanent basis.

The former Livingston goalkeeper, on loan from QPR, helped Motherwell earn a 1-0 victory over St Mirren on Saturday after saving Jamie McGrath’s first-half penalty, with Devante Cole scoring the only goal of the contest after the break.

Alexander said: “We’ve spoken to Liam and QPR about it after he said he would be interested in coming back next year.

“It has been on the backburner. But if his future lies out of QPR then we would certainly be interested.”
